Why do I keep on reading books and seeing on the news that these teens WORSHIP Marilyn Manson?

Like, the ones having to do with school shootings. I am not at all saying that Marilyn makes bad music, or it MAKES the teens commit such acts, but why would they worship him? I think we are smart enough to know what we should and shouldn't do, and I don't think hearing or reading something is going to incline us to do these things, and even if they do, it is not the person who spoke or wrote such things' fault. I think it is pretty low for my generation to be represented by gullible sheep.
