Blending families, in-laws and children

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 1 1/2 years. We each have 2 children ages 12 & 9. Mine are both boys and he has a boy (12) and girl (9). A little over 2 years ago he lost his wife. We met on-line and have an wonderful relationship. We just bought a house together and plan on getting married within the next year. Since moving in together I have realized what a problem his mother is becoming with her lavish gift purchasing and money giving abilities! At first, she tried to control our every move. She calls at least 2 times a day up to most often 10 times a day. I asked my boyfriend to please get the phone calls under control now it is her wanting to take her grandkids on vacations, giving them anything their hearts desire, buying them clothes and cell phones if we allowed it. I am tired of seeing my boys' and myself getting hurt over her not wanting to spend time with them or spend money on them. If it was not a large amount of money, I would not have a problem, but it is constantly something and it seems sneaky. My boyfriend is used to his mother doing this because he is an only child and got everything he ever wanted even as an adult!! He is very sympathetic to my concerns but does not know how to handle the situation with his mother. He told her that she needs to quit buying for the kids and she said "what - now I can't even buy things for my grandkids" and "I know who wears the pants in your family" (more than once). I took the 3 boys shoes shopping because his daughter did not need shoes at the time. I told her when hers wear out, I would take her to get new ones. His daughter manipulates to get her way all the time and knows grandma will buy her something if she asks. The MIL was going to buy my boyfriends son a moped for Christmas last year! That is $1500!!! I asked him what was next year a new car at age 11? My parents or my ex's parents do not spend lavishly on my kids nor do I want them to. They live in a completely different state which makes it even harder - I don't have any family here. I feel it is taking the word spoiled to a whole different meaning. Does anyone have any resources or a similar situation where they know how to address how to keep things fair between the kids? She is always ing in and tries to control our family and I need a get a grip on this before it affects my relationship. I would like to ask her to contribute with cash and we would split it between the four of them. Am I being unreasonable here? I believe my dog is seriously ill, can someone help me?

I have a female Japanese Chin, she weighs about 9-10 lbs and is 6 years old in a few days. She isn't fixed, and hasn't had any litters. About 1-2 years ago, she was exhibiting odd symptoms: drooling, facial drooping, clumsy walking, laying and sitting down a lot. It happened twice, each time I notified a vet but nothing was ever concluded. It hadn't happened since until now within the last month. She's been difficult to walk because she almost seems resistant to walk, her character has changed and I end up having to tug her along the way just to get her to do anything. During those times she isn't exhibiting any odd symptoms other than what I mentioned. But other times she starts to show the same symptoms she showed a few years ago. She's drooling heavily, clumsy walking or it seems like her legs just lose strength and she cannot walk properly, and she starts to lay down and sit a lot. It appears whatever condition she has is worse now and I do not know what to do. I plan on going to a vet tomorrow to take her in, there's an emergency animal hospital across the street thankfully. My question is, does anyone know what this might be? What can I do to help her until I take her to the vet? Is there anything I can do? I'm very worried about her, she's my first and only dog I've ever had. I consider her my family. I hope I provided enough details, if anymore is needed I'm willing to answer.

I did not get a chance to watch the episode of Wife Swap that had Steven Fowler, the British guy that behaved atrociously toward his substitute wife, Gayla, throughout the entire run of the episode. The thing I wanted to mention is that yeah, Fowlers behavior was atrocious, arrogant, meanspirited, and many other words but having said that, I think that there are many people who make comments like that about other people but they are aware enough not to do it in front of the person that they are badmouthing. Fowler was simply brazen enough to do it in front of poor Gayla and what made it worse is that she did not stand up for herself or say anything to combat some of his criticism of her. Ok, firs of all your expecting weight to off very fast its not going to happen like that its going to take a lot of time. I wouldnt be weighing yourself everyday just see how you feel the number shouldn't matter. My mom always ate really healthy but about two years ago she dropped all sugars except for natural ones she dropped 13 pounds doing that alone. 7 pounds is a crazy number to drop that fast and its awesome but dont expect it to keep happening like that. This is just one of those things that most of us experience from time to time. I'm sure your friend still cares, but he's moved on and you need to do the same. The sadness of a friendship that has ped it's prime is almost like mourning the death of a close friend. Perhaps one day you'll re-connect with this friend and sort of pick up where you left off. I've got friends that I grew up with and once we were all adults and into having families we grew apart, but when we see one another now, it's just like we were kids again. How long does one wait to try to become pregnant again after 2 years of coumadin therapy?

I was diagnosed with an intermediate pulmonary embolism via a V/Q scan 1 year after having a baby. I have never taken birth control pills so the cause is unknown. At one point, while on coumadin, I was tested with elevated level of lupus anticoagulants. I decided to check with another doctor who put me off coumadin for 3 weeks then rechecked my blood. All tests came up normal-no abnormalities. Although I am not sure if exactly what I had was really PE and what actually caused it, how soon can I get pregnant again and what are the preventative measures I should do...Thanks!

When they die, do they go to Hell for never worshipping God? How would that be considered fair if they were never given the chance to learn about Him? Is a baby that is born into atheism and then dies within the first couple months of it's life banished to Hell because of it's parents? The insurance company will be happy to take the approximate taxes right off the payout amount to help your beneficiary, or they can elect to pay it at the end of the year. Estate and inheritance tax only effect a small percentage of Americans, so this probably won't be an issue for you. Keep in mind that if this is infact in a Fixed Annuity and Not a Variable annuity, your interest has been compounding over the years tax deferred. What does this poem mean?

Well this was quite unexpected... of all the places it turns up it has made its way here. I wrote this. I wrote it awhile ago and posted it several months ago. So far everone has been correct in defining this poem. Each stanza reffered toa slightly different time period on my life. The underlining message I was attempting to convey was of helplessness. I was severly depressed as all of my friends left me just before the start of school. I attempted to talk to them and remedy it but to no success. I felt as I was the only one here on earth. I was terrified of the world ahead of me as I had no one to fall back upon if things somehow got worse than they were at that time. All of the people lied to me repeatedly in telling me how we were such close friends. My entire world came down on me in one collosal movement. Everyone in my life to me, had lied to me, i felt betrayed, cold,, and in darkness. It was with that that my mind wandered, which caused it to harbour hideous thoughts of suicide, or worse. Every ping day I wore chains, dragging myself along, prolonging the day. I felt horrible, yet no one had the adasity to approach me and ask why I was what I was. No one seemed to cared, hence the line "invisible blood" You may or may not believe me when I say I wrote this, but ultimately it doesn't matter, what one tends to believe can be independant from the truth. Ok here is the story my sister is not coping well at being a first time mom at all. She is 19 and had her baby 2weeks ago since the birth the baby is a sensitive baby, she likes things quiet and likes to be held. The problem is the baby now has colic and lastnight she kept on giving the baby to my mom as she say's she can't cope. My mom and her partner live with her but her partner is useless. The other night she went into my mom at 4am as she couldn't get her back to sleep so she let my mom do it for her. Since having the baby she moaned she was tiered so i looked after her baby and my own 2 children who are 2yrs old and 4weeks old while she went to sleep, i let her sleep from 7pm till 12 and then she went home with the baby. Since this i have done this another 2 times and it's quiet hard as i have my own newborn and a toddler and then her baby that has colic. The problem is i think she may be postnantal as she has asked my mom to HAVE the baby and my mom has said no and things calmed down i know she didn't mean it as i know she loves her baby she is just finding it hard to cope. She shouts at me and my mom all of the time even though we are just trying to help her. All she wants to do is sit on the sofa as she is and was before she had a baby a very lazy person. My mom makes her bottles and washes her and her bf clothes and as she hasn't applied for her money yet my mom also has had to buy the babies formula and nappies and i think this is wrong. I know that she needs to step up and be a mother but my concern is more for the baby than for her as if she is tierd and is angry all of the time then her baby will sense this and the poor thing has colic and needs someone patient to care for her. I was wondering what you think i should do. Should i offer to have the baby for a while? or Should i let her deal with her on her own?

These aftermarket kits are often cheap quality. I have seen a few Hummers come into our shop with HID problems. The most common problem is the ballast. The aftermarket kits have a cheap ballast and many times are installed incorrectly and not grounded properly. This doesn't fix anything (and nothing will except to replace the whole kit) but at least can give you some insight as to what is wrong.

I work as a technical support executive for a big company. I am trying to improve my quality scores by religiously following the quality parameters and i am very concious of it. The reason i am following it is that i want to be good in whatever i do. I want to raise my performance. Frankly speaking i do not have the gift of gab and my soft skills are not that good to talk diplomatic and try deciving customers. If the customer asks me something which i don't have any idea i do fumble and lose my confidence and they can feel it. Simply i can say i can't lie and i get caught if i try to lie someone, so my scores are very good when i do have the knowledge of the stuff when i know what the customer is telling about but our quality dept. asks me to show confidence even if you donot have the knowledge of the product. Like, the ones having to do with school shootings. I am not at all saying that Marilyn makes bad music, or it MAKES the teens commit such acts, but why would they worship him? I think we are smart enough to know what we should and shouldn't do, and I don't think hearing or reading something is going to incline us to do these things, and even if they do, it is not the person who spoke or wrote such things' fault. I am going to be attending a police academy later this year. They want us to have either a Glock 17 or 19. I have fired many different weapons before. I am not real familiar with Glocks though. my son is 2yrs old and he was taken to hospital a year ago with a bad arm kept cryin when enybody touched it ect...so we took him to the childrens hospital and they kept him in for 4days because i could not explane how he had done it they did x-rays of his arm and wrist they sed he had a small break so they put it in plaster to see how he went they eventualy let us home,we went bk to the hospital about 4weeks later and they did a 2nd x-ray then they said ther was nothink wrong at all took his plaster off and sent us home! now a year on ive notised a small lump on his wrist its hard and it dnt hurt him at all..ive spoke to the doctor and they said take him to A&E i dont kno what to do???

I haven't read all the Bhagavad Gita, but I've read some of it and I wanted to ask about the idea that we're supposed to just do whatever was given to us as our "duty" and leave the results to God (or the Universe or whatever you want to call it). I don't know if that doctrine has an official name to it. But I know there's a principle in psychology called "locus of control", that people are mentally healthy to the extent that they believe they have control over what happens to them. If we can't expect to have control over the results of our actions, or at least predict with a degree of certainty, won't that lead to fatalistic thinking?

Manx with incontinence issues.?

My Manx hasn't had those problems thankfully. But she has had arthritis for a long time. Now that she is 15 it is getting quite a lot worse. I've been having all these really intense dreams. lately for like the past few months.. and I've had a lot .. and some repeated themselves.. which I'm not sure I enjoyed too much. Well i only turned 15 in march so i'm not that old anyway ever since i was young i've had a really hard life. My mother died when i was a day away from becoming 10.She died of cancer that she has been fighting for 3 years. Her death wrecked me emotionally. I had nightmares after that for 3 years or so about her being evil and very sinister things. But the nightmares eventually stopped but then two years later my granny who was my mother's mother died. The night of her death i dreamt about her which really freaked me out. Ever since my mother dieing i've had to act like an adult, i've helped my family with extreme depression, i stopped some of them running away, some self harmed. It was like hell. I did it all on my own. I told no one because it makes me feel guilty for some reason. Well now things are kind of okay now in my family. There's not really any extreme arguments and some of my family have completely recovered from the depression. I've always gotten bullied for apparently being an emo. Even now i'm still bullied for it. I'm very paranoid and i think i have depression and i have extremely low self esteem. Anyway these 5 monthes have been crazy. Basically i have done some really bad things. But it was more convincing me than anything. I've been drinking often with friends and my now ex boyfriend and i had more than once but the last time we ever did was when he forced it on me when i said there was to be no at that time since there was no protection. So my friends told me he was bad for me and all the things you could think of. I got so annoyed at them. It is my life my choice not there's. Anyway it was basically , i had to get the morning after pill, the girl was so nice about it to me. So i know i'm not pregnant now as i have gotten my period two times, they have been later than usual though and i'm getting extremely bad cramping :/. So i broke up with him on the day before my GCSE Mocks so i ended up only getting good in one subject which was awful. I do selfharm sometimes because i can't seem to cry very often and i hate feeling or being seen as weak. It's really annoying because everytime i feel like crying i hold myself back. My friends don't seem to help me at all. They seem to think it's all a walk in the park but it really isn't. So i'm still in contact with my ex. Evil heroes are cool. You need, however, Evil Hero Infernal Gainer. why should i spend my entire life living by what the bible says is right if i really only need to accept jesus as my lord and personal savior before i die? i'm already a good person and treat people a lot better than people treated other people in the bible, so i don't have to worry about going to hell from having an evil heart. i figure i'll accept pascal's wager about 5 minutes before dying and jesus won't have any choice but to let me into heaven. is there any reason i shouldn't my life this way?

This girl is driving me crazy!?

okay, there is this girl that is driving me crazy, i like her a lot but i cant determined whether she likes me or not. She is very sweet with me when we are alone, smiles a lot, talks very sweetly to me, but at the moment someone that she knows or that we both know gets near, she starts treating me like crap, she immediately tries to ridiculize me in front of that person. She doest that to others too, but my friends agreed that she does it a lot more frequently to me, and im getting tired of she doing that, she makes fun of everything i say and incites other people to do so too. Broken rib? strained muscle? what's wrong with me?

I train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and last Saturday I unknowingly hurt myself while sparring. That night I could not even sleep...it hurt around my rib area to my back...I seriously thought I broke a rib, but I figured I'd be in far worse pain...I can move in all directions that my back and abdominals allow, but it hurts when I apply pressure to a certain area...I keep checking my ribs by feeling and checking in the mirror, but I don't feel anything wrong...I'm thinking I strained a muscle like my lat or intercostal muscle since the pain is only in a certain area and runs up from my rib area to my back...I keep checking my ribs by tapping and hitting the area, and it really does not feel like anything is broken...besides no one hit me for it to be broken...I did throw a guy off me but in sort of an awkward, twisting motion so I'm guessing I strained a muscle...can someone help me in determining how I can help this heal faster or actually determining what it is? Thanks!

Before you switch schools, maybe you should visit the other school back home and see how you feel there. Go spend the night in the dorm with a friend and see if you like it or not. It sounds like you have a good reason for being at this school (med school) and school hasn't been in session very long. Some people just don't get a big kick out of sororities, don't make that your deciding point. You say the reason you turned UTC down was the campus, but you have to be a little more specific. Wasn't pretty enough? Campus felt unsafe? It could or could not be a deciding factor depending on what you mean. I think you should try sticking it out till the semester's over and see if the homesickness doesn't go away.

If the drain valve now won't turn completely off, there could be so much sediment in the tank that it got into the valve when you opened it and it no longer will close. Dealing with husband and stepkids?

I have just gotten married (dated 1 year) to a great guy who has 2 kids 6 &8 and I have one, 4. I expect to have some parenting issues, different styles, manners, etc.. to deal with but my issue is my husband. The kids have adjusted well and they don't resent me or him, they really like to spend time with both of us. His kids come over everyother weekend and when they are not here we get along fine. When his kids are here we fight. He gets stressed out and blames me for making his kids act up. He yells and pouts. What I am having alot of trouble with is accpeting his misdirecting the anger at me and not dealing with his kids and the problem. I don't discipline his kids but refer them back to their father and I think he is frustrated and feels like he has to be the bad guy and wants me to step in but I am not going to take on the discipline of his kids nor do I expect him to discipline mine. When you sleep does the longer you sleep make you remember more of your dreams?

I have studied dreams and your question can apply differently to everyone. I find I will dream for 2 or 3 hours and remember everything in it, and also slightly wake up cause I have to go to the bathroom or some other reason, but I will fight off getting up and stay submerged in my dream cause I love dreaming and figuring out what it means. But even when I dream for 2 or 3 hours, I can all of a sudden forget my whole dream sequence and I find that really weird. I have not pinpointed why some dreams stay in memory and others do not. It could be because the sleep goes heavier beyond REM and that causes the semi-conscience mind to forget as the sleep turns heavier. But there are a host of different reasons for memorizing and not memorizing dreams. Sometimes I will try hard to memorize the dream when I get up and I do for a few minutes then all of a sudden the deep detailed dream is forgotten. Longer sleep could make that happen yes. With longer sleep there is more time for the mind to drift into a heavier phase of sleep and that would cause the forgetting of your dream.

Chemotherapy wigs?

Ive always wondered about this and it is kind of random but here it goes. . . I don't understand why people who know they need to go through kemotherapy don't shave their heads right before and then get it made into a wig. I have pretty long hair and people are always telling my i should donate it to women who went though treatment. I don't have anything against it and i want to, but it would make more sense if thay shaved their own head because then you would have you own hair and you would never really even get bald, Right?? Help, need advice about ankle?

About a month ago, i was as a water park and I fell pretty bad. There was a serious pain in my achilles tendon on my left ankle. I gave it about a week, and all seemed to be good. A week later, when I started water polo up again, it began to hurting and getting worse by the day. 3 days after starting water polo up again, it started bruising, and thats when my mom decided to take me to a orthopedist. He diagnosed me with Achilles tendonitis. My physical therapist then said she thought it was just a 2nd degree sprain. Im on anti inflamitories, but it still hurts pretty bad. What should I do?????

Relationship issue that I really need help with!?

Okay so my girlfriend is having a bit of an issue...with me. But they're issues that don't really exist as she says. She gets annoyed with me over really small things that don't actually matter. She says that they're things that shouldn't annoy her and in most cases she's right. She gets annoyed over things like me having my feet pointed inward or me saying I don't know too much (the I don't know thing to me is a good reason) but the thing is she's done this before and I fixed the problems, most of those were reasonable. But now she found a few more things. Now years ago before I knew her she dated and got engaged to a guy that was in the army and came back and broke her heart. Now she has a fear of being with the wrong guy and getting divorced. She has dated one other horrible uncaring sbag since then. Now my theory is that since she is afraid to marry the wrong guy get divorced and have a broken family like her parents she may feel I'm the right guy and is sub consciously protecting herself from getting hurt by making me seem like the wrong guy to give her a reason to leave. We both love each other VERY much and have since we've been together (8 months) I really love her and couldn't live without her so we need help with this. Tell me what you think it could be or how to fix it please...I don't want to lose her I really feel her and I are made for each other!

My partner and i have recently bought a West highland terrier, he is 13 weeks old!?

we are finding it hard to toilet train him, we he does the toilet on the news paper we take him out to the back garden, and we also take him for regular walks!! Yet still no luck! we live in a flat which makes it harder! When we go out he will hold his toilet in and not do it in his area ( which is common for dogs) but also when we are at home he will hold his no 2's until later on at night even though he has been took out for walks!! A relative has advised me that he has probably been newspaper trained for too long, although this was great wen we first got him! I'm not sure, but I've just bought polish from Avon which has a base coat and then a colour changing top coat. I can't wait to try it, it goes from a light purple to a dark purple with the top coat.

i think that you are really attractive to guys and they dont know how to react when they see and interact with you so thats y ur being treated differently. guys get all wierd around a really pretty girl, this is definately y they do this, the other girls arent at ur level, so they feel comfortable joking with them. when they talk to you they are mopre concious about what theyr doin cuz they really wanna impress u. try making it easier for them to approach u by being really friendly. alot of the time a guy will look at an attractive girls and think " wow shes outta my leugue" show them that u r intersted ( only if u r tho lol ) and be nice :)
