How far is too far in a hard rocker look?

Im getting into the whole rocker kinda look with the whole spike wristband, spike belt, rock t-shirts and that foe-hawk/mohawk look. I was planning to get like band shirts with Impending Doom, Demon Hunter, and many other christian metal bands. But i do wear Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch shirts too. Its just that i don't wanna look like a total freak and make people think different of me, anyone got some tips????
